Covid Surge: J&K reports 586 fresh cases, no deaths | KNO

'Srinagar registers spike of 185 cases'

Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Friday reported 586 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 4,734 while no more death was reported in the UT in last 24 hours and death toll stands at 4,777. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 586 new cases, 539 belong to Kashmir division while as 47 to Jammu division. He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 299,676 including 293,358 recoveries and 2,431 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 172,921 including 169,728 recoveries and 2,346 deaths. He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,734 including 3,887 from Kashmir division and 847 from Jammu division. With 745 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 463,086 which is 97.99 percent of the total cases. “Among the fresh 586 cases today, 185 are from Srinagar, 133 from Baramulla, 83 from Budgam, 05 from Pulwama 40 from Kupwara, 42 from Anantnag, 09 from Bandipora, 13 from Ganderbal, 24 from Kulgam and 05 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 47 are from Jammu division that include 27 from Jammu district, 00 from Udhampur, 03 from Rajouri, 03 from Doda, 02 from Kuthua , 00 from Samba, 05 from Kishtwar, 02 from Poonch, 04 from Ramban and 01 from Reasi,” said the official. As per the daily information bulletin 6,699,784 persons in J&K are under observation while 142 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 4,734 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 6,689,810 persons have completed the surveillance period and 321 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,278,092 samples are available. “Out of 26,278,092 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,805,495 while 472,597 have tested positive, among them 4,734 cases are active, 463,086 have recovered and 4,777 persons have died,” it added—(KNO)
